A great night - Dave Wakeling

Okay - so this is not TechGirlz stuff at all - however, since I am one of the TechGirlz, I thought I would share a bit of my life.

I have been a HUGE Dave Wakeling (The English Beat, General Public) for many years. I had a really long conversation with him one night just after 9/11 in Chicago and he offered me a private serenade…

(Big sigh)…

I have seen him several times in Chicago since then, but he was here in Chicago yesterday performing at the Whole Foods Festival - I was totally surprised. Well, I was backstage for the entire show and got this great pic with Dave. Dave is affectionately known as the the Ska-Father one of the pioneers in bringing Ska Music to the masses. Some of the other well-know Ska bands include: Rude Boys, Specials, Madness and Chicago’s own Heavy Manners.

Here is the first video that I fell in love with from the English Beat - enjoy!

Create 3-D Olympic Rings with Illustrator

In the spirit of the 2008 Summer Olympics and the excitement generated once again by the phenomenal Michael Phelps, I created a video with a tutorial for creating the very cool 3-D Olympic rings that are shown here. All you need is Adobe Illustrator and the Olympic spirit!

I had the pleasure of meeting Michael Phelps 4 years ago and was very impressed with him then. He is now the most accomplished Olympic athlete in history.

So - Check it out the video and let me know what you think!

Enjoy!
